HAIR STRAIGHTENING TREATMENTS and INFORMATION

Liscio Japanese Hair Straightening Information

Liscio Thermal Reconditioning is a technique that originated in Japan to make curly, wavy or frizzy hair, straight. The process uses both chemicals and heat to soften the bonds of the hair, reforming the bonds in a straight pattern. The end result is not only perfectly straight hair, but a glossy, smooth, and silky finish that is healthier than before.

The process can be done on color treated hair and hair that has been highlighted up to 50%. The process takes approximately 5 hours and depends on the condition and length of the hair.

This treatment is not suitable for hair that has Henna color or any other metallic dyes or color restorers or relaxers with products containing sodium hydroxide or any other metallic hydroxides. However, Liscio is compatible with other thio or cystine based relaxers.

Important wait times:

We suggest having your hair professionally colored a minimum of two weeks before or after having the Liscio service, as special precautions need to be taken.

Avoid shampooing for 48-72 hours after the Liscio treatment.

Avoid putting clips, pins, rubber bands, ponytails, or barrettes in the hair and do not tuck hair behind the ears as for 72 hours after the treatment.

Do not swim in a chlorinated pool or salt water and avoid extensive sun exposure for at least two weeks.

Maintenance:

Use Milbon Crede Ft shampoo and Crede Er treatment for home care, specially formulated to enhance the soft and weightless feel of the hair, as well as maintain the manageability and silky feel. These products are designed to be used with the Liscio service and will maintain your beautiful, straight hairstyle. Because some shampoos and conditioners have adverse effects on the hair after it has been thermally reconditioned, it is very important to follow a strict routine with regard to shampoo and conditioning.

It's recommended that you blow-dry the hair using a natural bristle brush and a downward drying motion to close the cuticle, and retain moisture in the hair.

Expectations:

The hair will remain straight until it grows out and / or is cut off. New growth generally needs to be redone anywhere from 4-6 months after. Most of the time the new growth can be treated while the previously done hair is protected with Keratin and protective creams.

Cost for the treatment starts at $500 and depends on hair length, density and if any chemicals are present. Cost for re-touch is roughly the same price, it takes the same amount of time or longer to manage the different hair texture and protect the previously processed hair. All the hair must still be ironed and neutralized.

Brizilian Blowout Information

The Brazilian Blowout will make hair appear naturally straight and healthy. If your hair is very curly, it will minimize frizz while enhancing the appearance of the natural wave / curl. If you have straight, frizzy hair, this treatment will eliminate frizz and promote radiant shine. I have performed this treatment on every hair type (fine, course, frizzy, curly), as well as hair that has been permed or Japanese straightened and extensions. In doing so, I have found that with proper communication and a well-considered application, everyone can benefit from the Brazilian Blowout smoothing treatment.

The Brazilian Blowout treatment will leave the hair totally fizz-free, shiny, effortlessly manageable and with plenty of body and bounce. There will still be the option to wear hair curly/wavy (depending on the hair type) and the freedom to blow-dry hair smooth and straight in a fraction of the time. The Brazilian Blowout will improve the health of color-treated or highlighted hair by conditioning the hair while sealing the cuticle for enhanced color, reduced frizz and radiant shine also works great directly on top of a relaxer. Perform the relaxer first, Brazilian Blowout next, and then neutralize at the very end of both treatments.

The Brazilian Blowout is great for someone trying to move away from having relaxers or Japanese straighteners. It puts movement back into the hair, allowing the hair to look its best and maintain it's natural volume along with great bend and memory when blow-dry and / or using a curling iron.

Important wait times:

Hair can be washed immediately after the Brazilian Blowout treatment, or as you would normally.

Wait at least two weeks before administering color to the hair, as the color will not deposit as effectively with the protein protective layer provided by the smoothing treatment. Color touch-up on roots between treatments is ok as the hair being touched is new growth and does not have the treatment on it. If a highlight is needed where the full color needs to pull through the entire head of hair, make sure to use the Brazilian Blowout masque at least once or twice a week to fortify the treatment back into the hair.

Expectations:

The Brazilian Blowout will last for 10-12 weeks if the Acai After-Care maintenance product line is used. The Brazilian Blowout is a cumulative treatment, in that the more you receive it, the healthier the hair will be and the longer the result will last. Unlike Liscio, you can swim in the pool or ocean after the Brazilian Blowout treatment, however, the treatment may be slightly compromised if you swim on a regular basis. We recommend that you apply the Brazilian Blowout Smoothing Serum on the hair prior to swimming in order to act as a protective barrier to maintain the smoothest possible result for the longest period of time.
